What are Dynamic Fonts ?
Dynamic Fonts refer to a special category of fonts meant for Internet
only. These fonts are dynamically loaded on the fly along with the
Web Page in which they are embedded and hence the name Dynamic Fonts.
The terms Internet Fonts and Web Fonts are aliases for Dynamic Fonts.
These fonts are especially useful in the case of web pages containing
Indian language contents because it is not always possible that the
Indian language fonts used to develop these web pages will be installed
on the client's machine.

?

What is the difference between a normal Shree-lipi
True Type Font given along with Shree-lipi and the True Type Font
file given with Dynamic Fonts ?
The Fonts that are present in the Shree-lipi CD are not web enabled
and also are not downloadable. You can not generate Dynamic Fonts
using the True Type Fonts present in Shree-lipi CD. Normal Shree-lipi
Fonts are locked and can be used only by the licensed users of Shree-lipi
for editing purposes (DTP). True Type fonts given with Dynamic Fonts
are not locked and can be used by any user in his machine for read-only
purposes.

Is it essential to specify the exact URL(s)
for purchasing Dynamic Font(s) ?
Yes, The URL(s) are essential for creating the Dynamic Font(s). In
fact the URL(s) are embedded in the Dynamic Font(s) File itself. If
anybody tries to copy the Dynamic Font file(s) to his/her machine
and use it for his/her own web pages, it will not be possible. I.e.
Dynamic Font(s) are locked to the specified URL(s) and can not be
used in any other URL(s).

I have copied the Dynamic Font file(s) to a
sub-directory named "fonts" in the root directory c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
I am having the html files in another directory at the same level.
I.e. my HTML pages are in the directory wwwroot\html and the Dynamic
Font file(s) are in wwwroot\fonts. Will the pages appear properly
?
Yes, if the URL(s), which you have specified, refer to the wwwroot
directory. Once you have Dynamic Font file(s) enabled for the root
directory, it will have its effect in the root directory as well as
all the sub-directories under the root directory.
I want to use only one Dynamic Font file for multiple URLs. All the
URLs belong to me/my organization only. Is it possible to have a single
Dynamic Font file which works for multiple URLs ?
Yes, For this you will have to specify all the URLs, which are registered
in your/your organization's name. It is mandatory to specify all the
URLs along with the Purchase Order for the Dynamic Font itself. You
will get only one Dynamic Font File, which you will have to upload
to one of the specified URLs. All the other web sites must give link
to the absolute path where the Dynamic Font file has been uploaded.
|
